Jooat sent me this photo, and the following request for information:
"Can you tell me more about this particular Dodge, I took this picture 2 days ago at the Zoo in Emmen, the Netherlands when we were there
with our son and many ill children.
This truck, so they said, was a Dodge that had served with the Canadians and had come to Schoonebeek, left there and was converted as a firebrigade car.
It had been in service up until a few years ago.
Can you inform me about the car or tell me where a can find out specifics ?
Thanks,
Jooat Kam"
Interesting photo definitely, is it based on the WC51?

Hi, under all that fire gear lurks a Dodge 3/4 ton Weapons Carrier,WC51 most likely. Try this,

Not to be pedantic, but the T214 denotes the series/engine type, the body types are WC 51 for the Weapons Carrier, WC52 same body with winch chassis,WC52 for Carryall, etc, etc, and on up toWC64 which is the Ambulance. It's the WC and the following digits which show what the vehicle looks like, not the T series which is the engine. If you need definitive info on military vehicles of the WW2 period, a good book to have is "The Observers Fighting Vehicles Directory (WW2), by Bart Vanderveen, published '72....think I've had mine since '75. It gives you all you are ever likely to need to know without getting lost in technicalia..... _________________ If it's old...it's good ! |
