Went along to the Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon today to see the Vintage Motorcycle Club's 2008 Banbury Run - all bikes are pre-1931

The 1903 3hp Quadrant Tricycle got off to a good start

Within a few minutes, the amount of breakdowns was mounting

Even George Formby turned up!

1918 Royal Flying Corps Phelon & Moore 3.5hp

The above photo shows a 1916 Sunbeam 8hp 1000cc - only known survivor of a batch of similar machines ordered by the Imperial Russian Army for delivery in 1916, however due to the revolution it was never delivered, so the WD had it instead

Another 1916 Sunbeam, this time a 3 1/2hp machine. The tank has three compartments, for petrol, paraffin and oil. When the engine gets hot enough, it switches from petrol to paraffin.

The above photos show a really special machine - a 1915 Sunbeam 3 1/2 hp, originally property of 11 Squadron RFC, as the plaque on the back shows. It's up for auction by Bonhams in September, estimated for £12,000-£15,000

NUT - Newcastle Upon Tyne

1922 Douglas model SW 350cc

1918 Douglas 2 3/4 350cc, which saw service as a despatch riders motorcycle in WW1

Including the one shown, up to 1905 there was;

1903 Quadrant Banking Tricycle 3hp
1902 Quadrant 1 3/4hp 245cc
1903 Humber Olympia Tandem 2 3/4hp
1904 Bradbury Peerless 2 3/4hp
1903 Werner Paris-Vienna 344cc
1904 Rex 3hp
1904 La Fontaine 3hp 400cc
1905 Rex Light Rex 3 1/4hp
1905 Chater-Lea 3 1/2hp

From the first few pages of the programme - it was in (roughly) date order so doubt there'll be anymore but i'll check. May have a photo of some of them mentioned, i'll check tomorrow or the day after and post them up. Pretty certain i've got one of the Humber
