Hi, I thought I'd join as I am going to need lots of advice! I have just started restoring a Mk2 Shirley Special which is based on a 1939 Ford 10. Here are some pictures.

The chassis is good but the body, engine, gearbox and interior all need major surgery. I am hoping to use it every day when it is finished!
It isn't my first restoration, I have done a 83 Mini 1000 and I have a half share in a 77 Midget with my dad. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again soon!
James

Welcome! Wink

That to me is a very successful shape for a "Ford special", the designers got it almost right (the bonnet kink doesn't quite work for me), but of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Looking forward to hearing all about your progress.

If its fitted with a Ford Side-Valve engine then as far as rebuilding it its a simple process, although the white-metal bearings may be a little expensive - however the SV boys here I'm sure will keep you right.

Hi, thanks for positive responses! As far as I know there are only four of these left, hense why you haven't seen one! I have taken the screen of and it looks much better. I'll try and get some more pictures up of it now.

I found it where almost everything interesting comes from now, eBay, although I ended up buying it privately.

The awful two tone won't stay! I am wavering between Old English White or Aston metallic green.

Great stuff, it'd be neat if you could kick off a new thread in the Your Cars category, that way your updates won't get missed Smile

I think I've seen a Shirley once, or was that a Paramount?? hmm not sure

cheers, Rick

Looks like the designer liked the front of the DB3 and the rear of the XK120.
