|
|
I'm off to the Le Mans Classic next Weekend and thought it would be a good wheeze to fit traditional yellow bulbs to my headlamps instead of putting tape on the glasses but I cannot find any. Anyone know of where I might be able to get some?
p.s. They are 45/50w British Pre-Focus BPF |

Hi
Don't you still have to mask/alter the dip angle, even with yellow bulbs? |

| Yes I think it's the dipping to the left that has to be corrected as you will be dipping directly at oncoming vehicles when driving abroad otherwise. |

| I have some Lucas Le Mans 24 headlamp units with a lens pattern that dips vertically down so should not dazzle anyone. I know the yellow bulbs are no longer frequently seen in France any more I just thought it would look rather traditional for The Classic... |

Hi Rich,
I suspect you may need to varnish them.

Peter | Actually you may be right, somewhere in the distant past I can remember sitting outside my Mum & Dad's house with a little pot of yellow glass paint doing the bulbs on my MGA before my first foray into France! |

Hi
If you can't find glass paint for H/Lamp bulbs at an accessory shop, try a craft outlet like Hobby Craft, they have lots of different colours.
I have used what looks like a marker pen for an offset pin indicator bulb which had started flaking, the only possible difference which might affect it is the additional heat generated in a H/lamp bulb compared with the 21w indicator bulb.
Or you could try using the marker on the exterior of the H/lamp lens. |

| Thanks for the offer but don't worry, it was just something I was going to do for a bit of fun to give the Atson that 1950's look for The Classic... |
