What do you reckon to be the greatest engineering structure in Britain.
Other than Hadrians wall my vote would go to The Forth Bridge closely followed by the GWR and the Caledonian Canal. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

You obviously didn't understand the question Job Related!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reckon that this one would take a bit of thought. I am always fascinated by structures like wind and water mills and Newcomen engines where the building and the engineering are all one - not a modern factory unit with kit stuck in it. Then there's Telford's Iron Bridge, the Anderton boat lift, the Falkirk Wheel, and even St Paul's. Don't know how to decide - except that it definitely aint the Milennium Doom! |

I know it's not a single structure, but last week we went up the A5 from Shrewsbury as far as Bettws-y-Coed. Telford's surveying and engineering
would be impressive today, but with the technology and equipment he had nearly 200 years ago, that must be one of the great feats of engineering.

UJ...is the Laxey Wheel the same as, or similar to the Falkirk Wheel? AMAZING piece of work there!

The Great Western Railway between London and Bristol including the box tunnel which in 1841 was the longest tunnel in the world.
