I found this in a barn at the weekend, and if all goes as planned, it will be my next project after collection on the 23rd....

Who's been a busy boy then!
And I'll bite .................................... what is it?
With all the petrol price nonsense wee cars like this will soon become valuable assets, but I know you aren't looking at it this way. |

I'll hang back from telling you what it is for the time being, if thats OK. maybe someone will rcognise it. There were some other cars in the barn as well. Apart from a Herald Coupe (standung since December 1975!) there was a perfect bullnose MB, Escort mkI, Camaro, and something I didnt recognise. My camera is going with me when I collect it, if I can remember. |

Hi
I know it is smaller, but the wraparound windscreen reminds me of the Vauxhalls of the early Victor and PA PB era.
Could it be an Opel version of the HA Viva or similar?
I know the Viva didn't have a wraparound but maybe the Opel did.

UJ - you are an evil man
I checked your photobucket and you have called the pic "Goggomobil", but this doesn't resemble the usual Goggos.
So either it is a special bodied one or you are leaving false trails! _________________ Brian

Brian, the car is totally original, not special bodied. |

Gotcha
It is a Glas Isar
The Isar was the company’s first attempt of to build a "regular size" automobile. The prototype was introduced at the IAA in September 1957. This prototype was shown with front wheel drive, a concept, which was later abandoned.
From the beginning this model was called the “Large Goggomobil”. Only since 1959 in conjunction with the introduction of the station wagon model was the name changed to “Isar”. Since August of the same year, also the first design changes appeared. There was a larger rear window, larger rear lights, a higher roofline and doubled-up bumpers.
A total of 86,943 “Isars” were produced between 1958 and 1965 of which 14,275 cars were the station wagon models. By far most models used the 700cc motor. The prices in Germany were between US$1,080 and US$1,240.
Get my prize in the post - you old ba******!!! _________________ Brian

Hopefully, this is what it will look like when it is finished.
Is it my overactive imagination, or does it have the look of an A40/A55 Cambridge? |
