following my enquiries as to doing a 2.3Ford engine swap, a Spitty has come available in my area, sans engine and trans! it is the MkIII version and had the 1500 originally; what has become a major picking point is whether the 2.3 will actually slot right in where the 1500 was. i had a mkIII some time back but can't recall anything concrete about the dimensions. what is possible is that i COULD obtain a proper Triumph 1500 and install it if the 2.3 install doesn't work out, but that defeats my intent somewhat. hours of research on the web only gets me a few turbo 2.3 swaps with no detailed information.

ahhh classic cars.....

Reb

Came across this Spitfire engine swap thread that might be of interest.
He has fitted a Nissan Twin cam and mentions that he had to modify the chassis to get it to fit low enough.

thanks, that was a cool read. not too keen on the way he did the bonnet, but to each his own; definitely a lot of labour involved. wish he'd been a bit more descriptive of the fabrication/modification to get the Nissan engine in.
