The front drivers footwell carpet of my Jaguar 420 is badly stained. All other carpets are quite good. I am not a big fan of aftermarket carpets, they just do not seem to have the same quality to it so whenever possible I like to retain the original carpets. Because replacements can always be bought whereas original cannot (of course).
So it seems a good idea to get overmats.

Can anyone suggest a supplier for overmats? The usual Jag specialist can supply them but at great cost - > 200 pounds for a pair of front mats.
Tan or beige would be nice (instead of black).

They sell all the material you could need and could cut them out yourself or if you fancied going the whole hog have them made up by a local upholsterer, in my experience it would probably cost you £50 to have it rib banded
