Jenny contacted me over the weekend, she hopes to find a home for a Standard 8 that her late father made a start on restoring. If anyone down that way fancies taking the car on to finish the rebuild, please PM me and I'll put you in touch.

--------------

"I've just stumbled on your website (looks good) and wondered if you could
advise please.

We are in possession of a 1957 Standard 8 in need of a good home. There's a
catch though, in that after a crash which wrote it off, my late father got
to work restoring it. The stripped shell is up on axle stands and the
bodywork has been almost completely resprayed, awaiting refitting with the engine,
gearbox, axles etc. All parts are available, including a spare engine and the
car was mechanically sound and used daily before the crash some years ago.
It is kept in a purpose built garage with minimal heating but a dehumidifier
going non-stop to keep away the rust.

We are looking for a good home for this much-loved car, someone who will
lovingly put it back together and use it again, which was Dad's intention. It
would need someone to re-fit the springs, axles and wheels before it could be
moved and transported on the back of a low-loader (?) as it is obviously not
taxable/insurable in its present state. We are desperate for it NOT to be
scrapped as many hours of painstaking work have gone into the restoration so
far!

Do you have any suggestions as to how we can go about this?

Any help you can give would be gratefully received.

With thanks

Jenny

(Ashford, Kent)"
