this is really nothing to do with cars, but it is in a small way - can any one help, we have a door bell that when pushed gives off two rings the only setting it has, but when I use the remote to open my car the door bell goes off and plays a differnt tune (thats how the other half knows i am home and to look busy), we now have the problem of it is going off nearly every hour on the hour from 5am ish to 5pm ish and may be a couple of times in between, we have a truck firm opposite have have laughed to them about it and they can not help as they would not be opening up van that regular, yes we could go out and buy a new one but that would not solve the puzzle any ideas? |

It sounds like someone has some type of security system that maybe provides routine reports on the hour just to say "I'm still watching/listening".
I would take a look around and see if there are any security monitors that are wirelessly connected.

I have remote controlled roller doors on my garages and a couple of times I returned home to find one door open when I was sure it was closed when I left home. I thought that perhaps something had fallen on the remote in the car.
One evening I heard the bleep of a car alarm being set, followed by my garage door opening. I ran out and found my neighbours brother walking away from his Renault that he had just locked. I asked him to unlock it and sure enough my door closed! But my door remotes didn't unlock his car.
Fortunately he was selling the car and promised not to tell the new owner that it came with optional access to my garage.
Doesn't help with your door bell problems, but does go to show that there are not enough different frequencies for all the remote devices inuse today! I have seven on my desk - remote keyboard and mouse, tv, dvd and radio/cd, and two car keys. _________________ Brian

Hi
Simmilar to keys, just think how many keys would work in different similar locks, it just relies on there being enough, not to make it easily done.
Cheers

For years we never had a door bell, just a nice brass knocker. Earlier this year we replaced our front door with a uPVC one and decided we'd have a door bell instead.
The door bell lasted less than a week before some little toad stole it, probably to be used to open cars.
Gilberry, if you were able to use the Sceptic, you wouldn't have that problem. _________________ 1953 Humber Hawk

I have found this to be a great cure for all electronic devices that refuse to obey my command.

Hi
Something I found out the other week.
I can lock my car with the key and the immobilser will also engage, but if I unlock it with the key it doesn't release the immobiliser.
So if the batteries in the clicker goes flat I could get in the car but not start it.
CURE
Make sure you have a spare set of batteries in the car, I have now put some in the Fuse box compartment(Still in their bubble packs of course for insulation) |
