getting anywhere on the Falcon V8 conversion has been a general disarray of fits and starts, dodging big storms and the requirement to work a real job... had the day off today and managed to semi-finish the exhaust work; i don't have a pipe bender so the portions of pipe from the rear axle to the bumper will have to be professionally done. i had actually completed welding up the exhaust/mufflers Sunday but lacked some hardware to secure them, and couldn't risk them cracking if i started the engine. ANYWAY; a couple of hours this morning fitting hangers and brackets, and i managed to fire the rowdy 302 into life; only to find the thermostat housing leaking. grr. i let it run for a good long while to get the damp worked out of her, and went on to other things. too darned hot and humid to spend ALL day on it. |
