|

hi guys first "proper" post go easy
right looking for recomendations on a filler to skim the whole car , i would really like to get a dark colour that will be more visable , also need a large quantity and a recommended retailer would be appreciated , I know the majority of it ends up on the floor but id rather have 2 much than not enough . Iv made the mistake of buying the expensive tubs of cataloy from halfords time after time and it costs the earth, so if i can save on a bigger quantity would be great.
hope theres advice out there ?
appreciated

Welcome - why would you want to give the whole body a skim of filler - it will still need a good primer surfacer.
A high build spray on primer filler whether 2 pack (dangerous with special equipement) or standard is a far better solution. Even then some areas should need litle if any _________________ Rover P2

Hi
If you do want filler, buy it from the guys who mix your paint. Much cheaper than auto stores, but think hard before using lots of filler.
Cheers

Filler will through time dry out and cause a crazing look on your paintwork. Best use as little as possible _________________ ROVER

guys ,
When i say skim the full car i intend to rub it all off leaving the low bits filled . theres a few ripples in each quarter panel so it will be filler im needing aswell as the high build primer .
u- pol easy sand is what iv been looking at 3.5ltrs for £14.99 |

I do not think ant mixup and spread filler is fine enough for what you suggest it not meant for that - just use it where the ripples are and rely on primer/filler or a high build spray on type _________________ Rover P2

Hi ,
You want a high build primer used with stopper. Then spray with a dark guide coat to get the high and low areas. Too much filler will cost a lot and not get the best results. |

You need uPol spray filler with a gravity or pressure feed gun, it will not "Dry out" or craze with time. I used this whilst working for a GM dealership bodyshop, the results are great.
You don't need a dark colour so you can see it, you need to use a guide coat (a light spattered coat of contrasting paint) aerosol or air dry paints are fine for this. The guide coat reveals both high spots as you work and shows where you have already worked,
