after growing tired of my '52 Plymouth Cambridge i put out feelers for a trade, and netted a tired old Spit. it's got the factory steel hardtop, and has a Weber conversion on it already. sadly, it's spent a lot of time near salt water and the frame is rotten as a pear, but i have a great car lined up to take all the mechanicals from her. luckily, Leyland spared all expense making unnecessary modifications year to year.... so these 1976 parts will fit a 1980 model just as well!
BTW; i owned a 1500 once before... i bought a Haynes manual for it, and kept it after i sold the car. the date in the book is 1994... hopefully this one still delivers the 30mpg the OTHER one did. |

Reb - it was a much longer period than just 4 years. The front suspension uprights from a 1980 Spitifre bolt straight on to a 1954 Standard 8 with no modifications! _________________ Brian

| i knew the parts interchanged for far longer than 4 years, that's just the timespan between my two bitsas! i apprenticed with John Ledingham of Elon Va repairing British cars back in the '90's, i foresee no great problems making a dependable runner out of the '80! |
