I think the story I have learnt is the battery opperated welding masks are not as good as the solar ones, as they runn out of battery power mid weld!

I've been looking at these and am a bit confused, some say solar battery powered Confused

Such as THIS one.

The ones I have had in the past, and never had a problem with were purely solar powered, but the ones I am looking at at work, seem to be battery powered, not sure why this is, just different designs, or is there a reason?

Cheers

The decent battery powered ones fail dark and require power to turn clear, I think the trick is just to buy a decent brand & model & not to try to save on essential safety kit.
I've used BOC supplied battery powered masks for over 10 years & never had any problems,

Nick

I have had solar ones for a couple of years and never had it fail, occasionally I put it outside in the sun but don't know whether that is right it may just draw from the weld light Embarassed I wouldnt have any other type now
Buy from the US I saved half price, it cost me 180 dollars for one that is £200 in the UK
