Hi everybody. I've only just found this forum, and it looks like my kind of place. I live in South East Wales, (hereinafter known as GoC), I'm a pensioner of six years standing, and have custody of Trefor, who is a 1969 Morris 1000 Traveller, currently undergoing major surgery to his rear half, and Burnie, aka Shed Mk 3, who is a 1980 Dodge/Commer CI Motorhome. These two are kept company by Lily,a 1994 Range Rover 4.2 LSE, and my pride and joy, my 1979 Royale Rangemaster caravan. The Royale is believed to be unique, as it is a two-berth custom built into a four-berth body, for its original owner. It is the only Rangemaster known to the Royale caravan Owners Club, of which I am currently chairman.
I am a member of various other forums, all connected with either cars or caravans. |

Paul Beaumont, "little England beyond Wales" is the south west area, around Pembroke. South East Wales is, of course "God's own Country"!
Thanks for the welcome, everyone. |

Welcome Emmerson.
When I bought my Safari I only considered a Carlight, Royale or Safari as these were the best 1960/70's caravans by far.
I then founded the only group for classic Safari caravans.
Now we have example of all three on this forum perhaps we can debate which is the best! _________________ Brian

Brian, you having founded the Safari group is interesting to me on two counts.
Firstly, Royale Caravans, or the Precision Coachbuilders, to give it its proper title, was founded by two ex-Safari directors and secondly, because the Practical Caravan list of owners clubs on their forum, has me as the contact! Quite why, I don't know, as I've never had a Safari!
I'll look forward to debating the "which is best" topic though.
I'm off to the ACCEO AGM this weekend, then on to thr Royale AGM on the 11th, so a busy time ahead, as we won't be coming home in between. |

Emmerson
The Safari Owner's Club (of which you were a temporary member!) is nothing to do with my group.
It is the remnants of the original owners club set up in the early 50's by Safari Caravans Ltd, but not one of their members now owns a Safari. It carries on as it has ACCEO recognition.
My group is:
http://groups.msn.com/ClassicSafariCaravanEnthusiasts/frontpage.msnw
We have about 270 members who own just over 200 Safaris. When I started it 5 years ago, I thought I would be lucky to find 20 owners!
I have sent you a pm. _________________ Brian

Noted, Brian. My PM hasn't arrived yet, and its dog-walking time, so I'll contact you later. |

Brian, I did see that one at the time. I believe it sold for a staggering £5,000! I did think of shipping a few out there!. |
