Art is right on the money.
This mascot is featured as plate number 302, page 84, in William C. Williams` book "Motoring Mascots of the World".
Austin 1908-1926
Winged steering wheel.
Marked Reg.286069 (found first on 1923 model)
Found in 3 sizes: very early large mascot 4 inches high (10.2 cm) with 6 1/2 inch wingspan (16.5 cm)
medium height 2 5/8 inch (6.7 cm) with 4 3/8 inch wingspan (11.2 cm)
small height 2 1/2 inch (6.4 cm) with 4 1/4 inch wingspan (10.8 cm)
EXCELLENT book, if you fancy mascots at all. I have a half dozen mascot books, this one is most complete, informative, and LOADED with pictures. _________________ "The only thing I`m sure of.....is that I`m not sure of anything!" |
