Hi Everyone, I'm a new oldie. New to this Forum, but fast approaching my three score years and ten!
I currently have 5 vehicles which probably qualify me for this site in addition to my trusty Rover 214SL.
My most cherished is an Austin FL1 Metropolitan Hire Car (like an FX2 Taxi, but with front passenger door). I learnt to drive and passed my test in this car in 1956. Since then I have driven it as a taxi and privately well over 100,000 miles and carried some very famous passengers. The car also transported Kathryn Zeta Jones in 'The Darling Buds of May'.
I also have 2 Triumph Speed Twin Motorcycles one a 1957 pre-unit and one a 1959 unit type.
My other cars are a 1968 Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible (needing attention) and a 1968 registered 2 litre Triumph Gentry (MG TF Lookalike), which unlike a genuine TF, is quite at home in modern traffic and has in fact been timed at 16.02 seconds for a standing quarter mile.
I hope I have not bored anyone, Jim walker. |

Hi jim, and welcome from another brand new member. Nobody ever gets bored reading/talking about other peoples collections! Btw, why do classic car fans rarely just have one? |

Hi
Welcome from me too, do you have any pics of your vehicles? They say so much more than words!
Cheers

I do have lots of photos, but I've just had one frustrating and only partially successful, session with photobucket trying to post a picture in 'Help Identity of this car wanted'. I will try tomorrow when I have had some shuteye and recovered. |

Well! I hope that here aresome photos. Not including the Herald because I have no recent ones and there is not room to get a camera in the shed where it is stored! I have included a pic. of a previous project for the heck of it.

Thanks 47p2, That's the second time.
The 'Bobin Robin' pilot is indeed me. I built/modified it in 1994 as an attraction for a Chesterfield Canal event. I believe it is still around with others claiming credit for it, but that's life. It had/has no engine, but a small outboard inside the hatchback. It was towed around the Country on its own wheels with an A frame.

Looks a bit like the result of one of the more disasterous escapades in "Only Fools and Horses"!

You may be right about "looks like" Paul, but it certainly was not. The Bobin' Robin raised over £2000 towards canal restoration on a sponsored sail up the entire 30 mile navigable length of the Chesterfield Canal. As well as supporting other charity events on other canals. I would not like to try it now! The next 3 miles are now restored with 21 more Locks!
In any case the dreaded Health & Safety and new boating regulations would not let us try.
