This engine was used in 1927 & 1928 Chevrolet trucks.
Probably was an export with right hand drive being that is has an "R" prefix on the block number.
I couldn't find this exact block #.
The build date is August 10th 1927.
The Chevy "bow tie" was first cast into blocks in 1927.
Green or gray paint was used on 1924 thru 1928 blocks.

Here's a photo link to a '27 truck engine........

I'll ask on the American web site I'm a member on that focuses on Chevrolets to see if they can add to Stuchamps information.

Hi Rick,

Here's the reply I got from the resident expert -

Hi mate!

Well, I can expand on your advice. It's actually a right hand drive Capitol series AA car or light delivery engine, and to be specific a 1928 selling season one. The '28 s.s. started August 1st 1927. The block has a # 36709 casting number and casting date code H 19 7, for August 10th 1927, and was cast by Saginaw Products Company (note the cloverleaf design) just before Chevrolet took over SPC in the Fall of 1927.

On June 7th 1927 there was a change in Cylinder Head to the 32 bhp at Engine # 3,409,976 so it's a 32 bhp engine. The motors had a new type of Delco-Remy semi-automatic Distributor [mechanical flyweight as against a spring advance] which was mounted as before but required a different method of timing, as well as a change to a larger Carter carburettor, a Carter C-RJX-0, as compared the previous model 1-inch C-RX-0 [with a ā€œCā€ prefix cast in indicating manufacture at the Bay City, Michigan, Plant as against the St. Louis, Missouri, Plant].

How's that? I would love to know where this motor is.

Do you think the owner would be willing to chat to David Rick?

Scotty.

Hi Scotty, thanks for taking the trouble to find that out. If you could PM me a contact email address for that guy, I can pass it on to the original enquirer to see if he wants to hook up and discuss it further
