I should say, at the outset, that you conundrum chaps are to blame for my lack of sleep and for this submission. You know who you are Jim Walker Peter Scott et al !
I already got a massive inferiority complex in the exalted company on the forum without trying to get my head round twingle technology and the
like when Ishould be asleep ,like normal people!
Fortunately my wife has left me .........(maybe I should rephrase that )
she has gone away for a few days, so I can wander about in the middle of the night unhindered.
There was an article in Practical Classics on a Stepped Piston design which appeared to overcome some problems related to two strokes.
It seems to keep fuel and lubricant apart, allowing plain bearings,as ina 4 stroke, and easier lube of pistons.
I am pretty sure that this article elicited a response from the Director of
an engineering company who were doing development work on this type of engine. If Ijust dreamed this it certainly was not to night !!!

You're giving credit to the wrong places OT. Peter Scott didn't know the answer to the conundrum and steered well clear. His only little interjection in that thread was a fatuous one.

Hey Oldtimer! You are talking too modern for me! I am in my late sixties (for another 4 months) and I gave up on newer stuff years ago when I found out my spanners and a bit of wire could not sort them out along with a bit of methodical common sense. I now confine myself to cars etc. that I believe I understand. If it doesn't say "Classic" or similar on the front of a magazine or book I don't even pick it up (unless I am sure it is a good novel).
Jim.
P.S. I just realised you said Practical CLASSICS. I am afraid the "Practical" series of magazines is also something I avoid. |

Hello Jim,
I didn't realise that all you youngsters would be so active on the forum!I wouldn't be surprised if Rick tells me that I have to transfer to the Old Gits ( I think that is Pigtin's phrase, but I may be wrong).
You see I am nearer the 74 INSURANCE SCAM than you are.
