Like 62 rebel: I also went back to work today, didn't want to but needs must: we import and sell parts made in the US and we are now facing a disastrous situation, with the pound having lost nearly 25% against the dollar. One of our competitors jumped the gun last week and announced an increase of 15%... this week it isn't enough. We’re all running scared.
So those of you with big ‘yank’ cars that rely on parts from across the pond… be very afraid. I have to now source, and try to have manufactured, parts in the UK. This was the original idea for our company but the UK priced itself out of the market and buying from the US was the only way to survive. Things seem to be turning the other way now and small engineering companies could well be swamped with work.
Sorry about the lesson in economics but I thought you might like to know how someone “up the sharp end” is finding it. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL

Maybe you should list the sort of parts you mean. The Classic car industry supports a good few engineering companies who would probably be pleased for extra business/diversification.

Although I work a little when I am called on, usually a serious crime somewhere I rely mainly on the monthly return on my UK investments; due to the exchange rate between the £ and the € I loose about 400€ a month on this time last year. I have heard however from car parts supplier in the UK (a friend runs one) that their profits are up as mainland europeans are buying from the UK, swings and roundabouts I suppose one just has to diversify _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com
