It is a little earlier, referring to the curved dash model, but the link below is for "My Merry Oldsmobile".

1928 saw the introduction of the Ford Model A, replacing the Model T which had been in production for 19 years.
"Henry's made a Lady out of Lizzy" introduces the new car.

In about 1917 there was "I didn't raise my Ford to be a Jitney" and
in about 1915 "It's a Rambling Flivver" (Flivver frequently used to
refer to the Ford T)
A much more modern song, later 1950's if I recall, referred
to the Nash Rambler and concurrent Chrysler. Here are the lyrics-
(chorus)
Beep beep (sound of horn - beep beep!)
Beep beep (beep beep)
His horn went beep beep beep (beep beep)
While riding in my Cadillac
What to my surprise
A little Nash Rambler was following me
About one-third my size
The guy must have wanted to pass me out
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I'll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn
(chorus)
I pushed my foot down to the floor
To give the guy the shake
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind
He still had on his brake
He must have thought his car had more guts
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I'll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn
(chorus)
My car went in to passing gear
And we took off with gust
And soon we were doing ninety
Must have left him in the dust
When I peeked in the mirror of my car
I couldn't believe my eyes
The little Nash Rambler was right behind
You'd think that guy could fly
(beep beep)
Now we're doing a hundred and ten
It certainly was a race
For a Rambler to pass a Caddy
Would be a big disgrace
The guy must have wanted to pass me out
As he kept on tooting his horn
I'll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn
(beep beep)
Now we're doing a hundred and twenty
As fast as I could go
The Rambler pulled alongside of me
As if we were going slow
The fellow rolled his window down
And yelled for me to hear
"Hey buddy how can I get this car
out...
of...
second
gear!" _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

Hi
That last song was released (escaped) over here but witha Bubble car or Reliant replacing the Rambler and I think a Jaguar replaced the Caddie.
Someone else must remember it. |

"In My Mercer Racing Car"- haven't found an audio of it but here is the sheet music.

"Take me on a Buick honeymoon"
Composer: Hickman, Art
Lyricist: Black, Ben
Publication: Los Angeles: Howard Automobile Co., 1922
Looks like this topic would be a lot of fun to research. So much to do, so little time, but I'll try to revisit it later. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

Does anyone have a copy of the song "The Rythm of the Road" (if that's what it's called) that accompanied the film advert for Ford V8s? I'm not sure of the exact date but probably late 30s.
