The Tyre of the future. Michelin see through...amazing.

THROUGH TYRE

Radical new tyre design by Michelin. The next generation of tyres.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tyres are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tyres.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...

D. no more flats...

SCAN DOWN & SEE

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Wow, stick these on a Hydrogen fueled electric powered Honda Clarity and you must be close to a car that requires zero maintenance and never lightly to break down! Shocked

Probably not a good time to be an aprentice vehicle mechanic Shocked

I can see one problem.

Drive through some mud and as it hardens between the spokes it will really upset the balance.

Or will you be provided with a tooth pick to get it all out before driving!

Hi

Not sure if it only applies to cars, but if it is going to be the same for tractors and the like, how are you going to balast these!

Cheers

Now that's an interesting development, I can see real value in these types of tyre providing they get their "side-walls" strong enough the withstand the rigours of British roads. Rolling Eyes

On the plus side just think how much rubber these tyres will save, let alone the reduction in tyre repair costs, strikes me as a good idea. Likewise they look as though they'll reduce the unsprung weight of the vehicle, and that's got to be a step in the right direction.

Down-side - there's no place for white sidewalls or tyre polish!
