I am going to be reinstating the bearings very soon and wanted to ask about types of grease and packing I know what the "manual suggests but it was written in 1936. All sides have double bearing races with 3 or 4" in between I have renewed all with new SKF
Do I just go for the lithium based grease or do you have other/better options _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

For the last 30 odd years I've always used graphite grease and have never had a bearing failure with it whereas I did have the odd wheel bearing failure with LM. Maybe the only thing to draw from this is that having had failures in the past I'm now less neglectful.
I just like the idea of a lubricant that has an added safety margin.

Graphite greases are not usually high melting point though although I have heard a lot use them in wheel bearings without problems _________________ Rover P2

Hi
I just use the mc-cormic grease, suppose that is the lithium type. If it is ok for use at work it is ok for me.
Cheers
