Where will it all end... am shattered at the demise of Woolworths, so many memories, particularly the one in Balham where I bought my first Pepsi Cola in 1949. I remember Frankie Lane singing 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' over the PA system....Out the back (on a piece of waste land) was a derelict truck, Model 'T' I think, and I used to climb over it and ponder the mechanical mysteries of the horseless carriage.
Local firms are starting to disappear and I wonder how many of the Pubs and Restaurants will be able survive.
Sorry to be so gloomy but I can't remember a time with so little optimism.

Oh, the rot set in for Woolworths when they became extravagant and laid Linoleum down on those old worn wooden floor boards with the knots that you could trip over.

The only thing worth having in Woolies for the last 20 years was on the Pick'N'Mix,

I agree with you Peter - and dumped the broken biscuits. Mind you we were so poor we had to break our own!!
