As this subject threatens to swamp another thread at the moment I thought it appropriate to start a new topic.
For me it's a sort of plan to sell my pre-war car and buy a classic Fiat camper-van with the proceeds.
Anyone else planning to have a change??????? |

It's a hard one this. The trouble is I look back at some of the cars I've had and wish I still had them now and regret that I sold them, particularly my Mk 1 and the manual overdrive Mk VIII. Yet today I use one of my cars less and less but enjoy the ownership, something I used to get hot under the collar about where others were concerned if they didn't use them, but now I seem to be becoming that person. Anno Domini taking its toll I guess. I know I should really sell and let someone get more use out of it but it just sits there in the garage and I don't think I did 1,000 miles in it last year whereas it used to be a minimum of 4,000 every year. The conundrum continues.

As you know, I have decided to part company with my Honda, and will be trying my luck with some kind of Series 2 or 3 Land Rover hopefully......

A Series 3 will be a good buy but a Series 2 or 2a will be an even better one.
It is generally accepted that the 2/2a is the best Series Land Rover built.
They are quirky old things but will give you a lot of satisfaction. Just remember all 2/2a's leak water into the cabin and the non synchromesh first and second gear 'box is character building as is the noise, heavy clutch and appalling brakes! _________________ Starting Handle Expert

I have no plans to change my Range Rover, but I think the time has come to part with my Morris 1000 traveller.
The poor thing has been part-restored and left for 6 years now, and I'm finally beginning to realise that I'm too old now to ever finish it .A prospective buyer came to see it last week, and only then did I see how much it has deteriorated over the years.
Sad, but I'll let someone else have the fun of finishing it. |

Hi D4B. Your little Honda Truck. Has a Cumbria registration, wonder how it ended up in Croydon. It's quite a drive from Cumbria to Croydon at 50mph eh. |

Hi Ellis,
Thanks for your advice, I don't think that the LR driving experience will come as too much of a shock to me after my 45mph pick up and my 37mph Peugeot van ~ now that really was noisy!
Cheers Steve |

It may well be heading north very soon, I have just taken a deposit from a Honda enthusiast in the Peak District.
Perhaps it was registered at a dealer in Cumbria, and then transferred to Croydon very early on?
Thanks Steve |

Naaa no plans to sell anything and replace it/them, but I'd like to get something else on the road again - time will tell on that one!!

I was going to say, yes, I am planning a change... but now the deal is done!
The 1930 Morris Cowley went in December, and I have just sealed the deal on a 1931 Austin Seven as its replacement - should be in my hands next week |

Are you an old hand with Austin Sevens? If you are you won't need any advice from me!.
If not, I have lived with mine for 30 years and still managed to keep my sanity somehow |

Thanks, Ray. Yes, I have had dozens of the little bu**ers! I sold my last one nearly thirty years ago, but I expect to adapt pretty quickly |
