Rick,

I don't recognise this as any Jaguar. I've checked my Eric Dymock Jaguar File and there isn't anything like this there. It does have an SS2 look about the rear end but they were 2 door cars. There doesn't appear to be any SS cars with steel wheels either. The engine obviously is a 2.4 litre twin-cam XK unit. The earliest of which appeared in 1955. Do you know what it was registered as? Does anyone recognise the dash?

I was pondering about this being a bitsa, as I didn't spot any Jaguar markings elsewhere, but there are signs of other Jaguars dotted around the undergrowth so thought I'd see if anyone else recognised it?? if I get chance I'll go back and look for a chassis/bulkhead plate Smile

(from the road I thought it was a Rover, but the engine threw me somewhat)

It's a Rover, P2 I think, fitted with an XK engine.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it Peter! As such, the engine might be of use to someone I suppose, but a rotten P2 Rover isn't for saving I'm afraid.

Smile and thats the good side!

I plan to make some enquiries, as the building behind isn't exactly empty either

Easy clean steel wheels would indicate post war, dashboard going to a peak at the bottom indicated up to early 1947 as the dash was changed later in 47 to accommodate a radio.

To sum up a Rover P2 either 14hp or 16hp fitted with a Jaguar 2.4 litre twin-cam XK engine. Date somewhere between 1945 and 1947

Unless anyone else knows better

the odd lever to the right of the steering wheel; is that for a preselector gearbox, or am i reading too much into what i see? that dash, by the way, looks great and i hope it at least will be snatched up.

I think that's the lights switch.

The lever on the right of the steering is the semafore trafficator switch

The dashboard on the P2 is rather nice 62rebel
