Oh to be a time traveller eh??
1923 Fiat 10.4 (tourer), One owner from new, everything original. Car has only done 5,000 miles in it's life. Stored from 1928 to 1950. Taxed and Insured. Offers around £100.
(adverts from 1951)
or how about...
Bugatti Type 37A. Fitted supercharged 1.5 litre "Brescia" 4 cylinder 16 valve engine. Now being overhauled throughout. New tyres, seats, body and respray red. Very fast car. Suitable for Formula 1, sprint or sportscar events. Never been registered. Price £400.
Sigh.
(Even though incomes were much lower in 1951 compared to now, I bet relatively the price of this Bug was a lot easier to swallow in '51 than it'd be today at current prices ) _________________ Rick - Admin

Go back to the early seventies though.
You could pick up a DB5 (with an MOT!) for £1500.
Let's get that time machine fixed! _________________ 2000 Jaguar XJ8 4.0 LWB

It makes me wonder what will be considered a classic car in 50 years time ( not that it will bother me as I will be 111 by then )
Most ( or indeed all ) modern cars will need a degree in computer science to do anything more than fill with petrol and pump up the tyres.
Lift the bonnet of any modern car and I defy any but the most committed to identify more than 5 components!

I agree - electronics pack up anyway and once damp gets into the 100's of miles of lightweight cable causing shorts and high resistance the loom will quickly burn out replacment black boxes etc.
All the specialy moulded plastic components in the trim, panel work and even the mechnical & cooling bits will self destruct too, even switches are made for the cars rather than off the peg Lucas etc.
The stel bodywork is so thin that onec corrison sets in nothing will stop it - welding in new patches is far more difficult with the modern thin and hard high strength steels
Few will survive anyway when the £2500 scrap incentive takes off.
Cannot think of any modern cars worth saving - they all seem the same to me _________________ Rover P2

Aye Phil, by then we may be stuck with our 100 year old classics - maybe we should be stockpiling ANYTHING we can get our hands on now 'cos new stuff will not be worth saving!

Hi
I watch good night sweet heart every morning before work, dreaming about time travelling, there must be a loop in the time wall somewhere, just can I find it.....
I seem to have been born in 1900, and then somehow travelled forwards 80 odd years, just can't remember how to get back!
Cheers
