Hi
I have been given what I think must be a luggage truck off the railway, looks like a huge elabourate sack truck, very rust, and the oak is rotten.
The handles were orriginally 5 foot high, I have decided for cost reasons to make them 4 foot, still quite big in my oppinion, and I am using ash, for the ease of work, still will be strong enough to carry what I want, as the timbers are quite large!
Rough cut the shape, and put through a thicknesser today at my friends house, and have cut/shaped the handles today, will perhaps look at the cross members tomorow of during the week. Got some of the orriginal bolts undone today too, so will sand them like the rest off the metal work, and red oxide before painting black. I was going to leave the metal work natural, but with all new timbers, I think it will look better black.
Really enjoyed today, haven't really done any wood work like this for years, and remembered how much I enjoy doing it!
Cheers
