I have had the colour matched for my '56 Cresta, and am about to order enough to respray the car.

This will mostly be the exterior of the car, as I want to keep the inner surfaces as original as possible so I will just be touching these up.

I have been advised to order the paint now as the supplier cannot guarantee how long it will be available.

How many litres should I order in order to do the job, and what shelf life would it have if unopened ( this is a slow restoration ! )

Thanks
Ross

Three litres will be plenty, but if it's being matched for you (and for some reason you won't be able to buy it in the future) then another litre may be prudent if you think you have need of it in the future.

Kept in a fireproof cupboard, not too cold, should last for a while.

I wouldn't worry about 2 pack not being availble (unless you are talking years!)

5 years ago folk said Celly would no longer be availible and you can still get it anywhere!

I have to disagree with you ukdave, over here in malta 2 pack is not being imported anymore and I m not sure about cellulose but perhaps the same story applies, wbp only is being imported now Sad
Had to buy some for the hunter's engine bay fron the same supplier but had to take a different make than the one I painted it in and he said the match will not be 100%, but better leave what paint remains of the original for the exterior cause if it gets damaged I wont be able to match it!!
However a water based one would be supposed to match it so it shouldnt be much of a problem!!
I decided I'd be doing the first 2 coats in this paint and then use some of the original paint leftover for the last coat in order to have a perfect match for the end result!!

And with regards to longevity, I have some 2 pack in a tin and its been there for at least 5 years and is still fine!!

Thanks for the replies - I've ordered 5 litres including a couple of aerosols - that will give me some left over for future touching up !

I can highly recommend Dingbro in Glasgow for the effort they put in to getting an exact match. There would be difficulty getting 2 pack after next month.
