Safari now if I remember right!

Most of what I have, is 50s
Safari made a small caravan called the Minor 9ft length doors over drawbar.
The 1953 Olympia stand exhibition showed a rather bulbous body caravan curved at both ends and lantern roof very heavy caravans. Also show was the Tourhome being the same shell as the Safari four.
This cost £399 and manufactured by Pearman Briggs and offered it with a Safari four making it a very comfortable two-unit home . So that the four could be used separately for holidays. This family pair then cost £750 and connecting corridor could be added extra. Also extra to the Safari home planning was the super annexe also a Safari four but with a different single end bed arrangement.

In 1968 we had new Abbey 12 de-lux produced by Cosalt who then went onto buy Safari the name Fred Vowles at Pearman Briggs Stroud; springs to mind and so both companies went under the Cosalt badge. He then went onto start another company.
When buying our new 1971 Abbey 12/4 13ft I do remember these and Safari being on show together at the Gloucester road showground. Both Safari and Abbey were built on Peak chassis.
The models were 13ft in 2 berths and four berth forms, 15ft same berth arrangements and a 17ft four berth.
Late 70s early 80s Safari went over to fibreglass front ends. I think mid 1980s, Cosalt then shut down Stroud and moved production to Grimsby where the Abbey were produced. I cannot remember when they ceased production of Safari, but it could not have been to long after.

Cool Nice bits & bobs about Safaris. Have you spoken to BrianM? He runs the Safari website, there is probably a link on here somewhere for it.
