Simon emailed me, about two old lorry wings he has come across, wondering what they might fit. At first I thought about the Austin/Morris LD range, but they are slightly different. Does anyone recognise them??
Simon's note:
"I have just aquired two commercial vehicle front wings from a coalyard
being pulled down next to my house. I have no idea what they fit to but
hoped you might have some idea. Someone somewhere might just be needing
these to finish a restoration and it didn't seem right to let them go to
scrap. Can you help identify them?" _________________ Rick - Admin

Hi Rick
I saw that but wondered if the detailed pressed section was a separate piece welded to the front of the main side portion of the wing |

Hi Rick,
Due to the special shape around the headlights I would say Thames trader
type FC ( forward control ) from the period 1957-1965.
Within the category FC there were different type as 20 30 40 55 and 75 what meant more or less the payload of the lorries.
As far a I know all of those cabs ( and wings , doors and bonnets) were identical .
I would like to ask Simon to take a picture from the side of the wings to make sure ! ( as you mentioned the arch of the front wheel seems to be larger than normal ).
a collegue-restorer of mine -in the Netherlands- would probably be very interested in those wings to complete his restoration.
Hope my English is not to bad to read and understand !
Greetings
