Hello caravanowners

My name is erik lenderink and i live in Holland!
Im owner of a camping site in the green heart of holland.
www.lorkenbos.nl

I have the opportunity to buy a carlight cosmopolitan 1958 in a very
good condition. this will happen in September this year.
I have already seen the caravan and i was very content about it!
I will have some questions off course in the future about restoring this
old lady and i hope to do this in this forum
The carlight is in a very good condition as far i can see.
The owner is a member of the dutch oldtimer caravan club!

Does anyone knows how many of this type cosmopolitan still exists in the wordl or is this a rare type of caravan?
The interior seems to me very dark, is this original or just a matter of time?
In the original brochure it looks like the interior is much brighter!
Is there anyone in the UK who has the same type of carvan?
You can find the original brochure at http://www.carlight.co.uk/corporate/brochures/60s.pdf

I have put some pictures of the carlight in this post
Interior photo's are not very good because I had no key yet so i had to take pictures trough the windows

Greetings from Holland!

Erik

If you read this thread on an Australian Vintage Caravan site you will find plenty of references to sources of information on Carlights.

They are great caravans and the only make I will concede are better than my Safari!

Hi Erik hope the sale goes ahead. Let us know. I myself used to have a Carlight Casetta 1967 vintage . Also does your campsite take touring caravans?
Regards Robin

Hi robin,

No problem to come to my campsitre, we take all kind of caravans so tourcaravans and especcially oldies are more then welcome!
Still wating for the owner who will arrive in september so then i will do buzzznis with him!
The campsite is in the vicinity from the National Parc De hoge Veluwe"wich contains the famous kruller muller museum withe the paintings from vincent van gogh! So there is a lot to do and see here!

Hello oldtimer caravan lovers,

So. after a few months i finally bougth my carlight!
The next six months i put in in the barn where it is safe and warm!
i will start the restoration this fall and wintermonths and even spring i believe!
All the varnish has to be removed tho get the original oak color back!
The cushions has to have a make over, i found some pieces of the original carpet, so th curtains and new carpet will be in that design,
Roof is not leaking, wood is not rotten, some places it has to be repaired
(windows ect..)
Every advice is welcome, thanks in advance!

After a year of no posting im back!
Tha carligth has been sold and the latest news i heard is has gone to sweden where it will be fully restored.

I was to busy to work at the interior of the carligth, everything had to be stripped and painted again.

But after a while i had found myself a carlight continental here in holand.
Its a carligth from 1960 and its only used from 1960 until 1965.
After then is has been stored away.
Its a living time capsule, as you can see on:

Let me know what you think of this?
greetings erik lenderink

What a super caravan, amazing condition for its age. Those Carlights must have been expensive when new.
