Can anyone recommend a good voltage reducer for the trafficators and the wiper motor for my Morris 8 Series E? I have converted to 12v and want to keep the 6v trafficators and wiper-motor.

Reducing the voltage from 12v to 6v would require dissapating at least 48watts if you are drawing 8amps. This does not sound very much but if you are using a power resistor to drop the voltage the skin temperature of the device can get quite high. As R =V/I where as V = 6v and I = 8amps then R = 0.75ohms. I would use a resistor of atleast 75 watts and make sure it is sitting on a heatsink and no where near flamables. The lamp should still be 6v as it is in parallel with the coil. I have not checked the availability of parts or cost. Try hand signals! |

It would be better to get a 12v motor that is the same as your 6v and do a straight swap _________________ ROVER

I bought a few for my Prefect from Ebay USA as I found they were the cheapest, even with the postage. I have fitted them to my petrol gauge and trafficators and like previously mentioned, you have to isolate them from anything flamable as they do get rather hot. In short, they work just fine. |
