Hi guys,
Should wing piping (the stuff that fits between panels to hide the gaps) be the same colour as the panels, or just black?

What is the car model and colour.

I think I'm correct in saying metal piping as in Rover P5s rear wings are painted to match the car and material piping is usually black

Sorry, it's for my 1948 Alvis TA-14. Colour is being decided, short-list so far is maroon or bluey-grey.

The piping is the cloth stuff that gets sandwiched between the panels with a bead which is visible from the outside and hides the panel joint.

I can't think how to paint it other than with the wings in place and I'd like to paint the wings off the car.

P5/P5B used still alloy beading painted in body colour. The old type flexible patent finished fabric rubber/rope cored type is often painted by restorers but will crack
