Had a good afternoon over at the Coventry Transport Museum - best part is, it's free! Along with Brooklands it's the best motor museum i've visited. The Thrust SSC simulator is good fun but costs £1 each, but you can see the car for free. There's also a Dr Who exhibition on too at the moment. Plenty of vehicles on show, my particular interest is Edwardian era and racers hence the heavy bias - even then my photos don't show the whole collection from this era. I can add more photos if anyone's interested
1901 Payne & Bates
1956 Scammell Highwayman and tanker trailer
1923 10hp Albatross
1909 Rover 15
1910 Humber Tourer
1908 Hillman Coatelen, named after it's French designer Louis Coatelen
Quite an interesting indicator...
Austin Swallow
Quadbike, 1862 style!
1912 Crouch 8hp
1932 Hillman Wizard 75
Nice garage scene with a 1933 Austin Seven
This fantastic 1914 Humber 11 was donated to the museum by the family of someone who died after buying it at auction - only parts of the engine has been rebuilt, and it will be kept in original condition
1924 Bentley Tourer
1909 17hp Maudslay Landaulette
Tyrell P34
1928 Alvis FWD
Two Lea Francis Hyper's - the one on the right won the 1928 Ulster TT
Lotus 20
1955 Maserati 250F
Delorean
1954 Sunbeam Mk III which competed in the 1954 Monte Carlo Rally
1965 Lola T70
1932 Alvis 12/60 |

Great pics! I particularly like the 1914 Humber 11. I much prefer original, as opposed to restored cars. It reminds me of a very early pre-production c.1930 Morris Minor that is on display in a theme park called the Milky Way in North Devon. Unfortunately neither seem to be roadworthy! _________________ Richard Hughes |

| Afraid not, I don't think it was on display - i'm certain I took a photograph of all Edwardian or earlier vehicles aside from an 1896 Damler. There's definitely quite a few vehicles that aren't on display that used to be, especially commercials |

Hi
Nice to see some nice pics, I too prefer the edwardian/veteran era, so if you have any other pics of this period, it would be great to see them.
Did you get to have a go on the penny farthing?
I wouldn't mind having a look around there too.
Cheers

We've been a few times, the Post Vintage Humber Club has held the past years AGM's there and the 50th Anniversary celebrations for Series Humber were held on their forecourt. Great venue and great museum.
They are very lucky to have such a supportive local council. _________________ 1953 Humber Hawk

| It's a fantastic place to spend a day (or two), and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. My wife uses a wheelchair, so we phoned ahead and asked about access. We were given directions to private, secure parking at the rear of the museum, and VIP treatment during the whole of our visit. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A thoroughly first-class museum in all respects. |

Thanks anyway Rob - great pictures by the way, I really must revisit the museum, I haven't been since it was re-displayed.

Nice museum. Love these old garage scenes and I echo 640TMP's comments on the Humber.
Thanks for posting.
