Why doesn't the MMOC do something about it like we did with the Riley we saved from scrappage?

Are the owners of good classic cars such as this, lazy or just ignorant. Surely it would have taken very little effort to find another owner. Don't they understand that with no part exchange and a bundle of cash as a deposit they can get the car they want at a discount price anyway. Mad

Pity they couldn't just swop it for some mashed up modern wreck. It seems that even light damage to a vehicle leads to a write off situation nowadays, like the Jaguar X type featured in the Police prog BBC 1 last night in Edinburgh. Some scumbag stole it and joyrode it, put a dent in every panel, finally leaving it in someones front garden hedge. The copper said it will probably be written off. Ludicrous at £20K!
The scrappage scheme is clearly flawed as in real terms the dealership should recognise that this is a stupid case and refuse to do it as they have to put in £1K anyway and they could trade the Minor for more than that.
No-one has any common sense anymore.

The scrappage scheme is such an ill thought out piece of legislation anyuway. It started in France to encourage sales but unlike GB they actually make cars there, french ones at that.

Now if they had specified that the car traded in could not be tax exempt that would help. As regards the dealership, they could have resold the Moggie for £2,000 looking at the condition it is in.

I nhave a rotten Rover Metro Diesel that I would be happy to swap for it!! Laughing

Anyone like to bet that the minor will re-emerge with a slightly different identity?? I understand that it can be broken for parts. Can they be re-assembled again afterwards??
