This was sold at the recent (about a year ago, I think) auction of the Sharp brothers' collection.
Interestingly, it was found in an East Anglian scrap yard in the 1950s - together with another car - by Reg Taverner, who was engaged by the brothers to find cars for their collection. That other car was ............... my Star
The poor old Carrow never got any attention, and is just as it was found over fifty years ago, although the new owner (claims to be a nephew, so why did he have to buy it at the auction?) says he has done some work to it. |

Hi
It seems to be his uncle who bought it in the fifties.
Quote: | This car was previously owned by my uncle who purchased it in the mid 1950’s in running condition and put it into storage until three years ago when I purchased it.
| so could his uncle have been one of the Sharps?
I have in the past had to buy something from a deceased relative's estate auction as there wasa dispute over who should have what, so the execs. auctioned the lot. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

The Sharp collection sale was about 4 years ago, I was there.
During a cigarette break I got talking to two of the Sharp grandchildren, and asked why the collection was being sold and what would happen to the unsold lots. They told me that the four children (their parents) of the two Sharp brothers who built up the collection could not agree on any method of splitting it up, due to widely differing valuations on just about every car in the collection. So an auction was the fairest way to resolve the estate, and that if a beneficiary wanted a particular car they had to bid for it, and the price would be deducted from their share of the proceeds if they won it. The family, in the front row of the auction hall, were seen to bid for a few lots. I asked about any unsold lots, as it was a completely no reserve auction they thought there wouldn't be many and on the day some real bargains were had on some of the unrestored stuff.
I don't have a record of bids for the Carrow but perhaps the nephew bid a few pounds for it. _________________ Brian
