I spotted this car the first time a couple weeks ago while on a bike ride. I took some pictures, but had no clue what it was until I spent a few hours tracking it down online (on this website, actually). It happened to be there again today, accompanied by a Lotus Elise, so I took a few more pictures.

Strangely enough I was reading an old Motor Sport from 1966 and a full article on the build of these cars, especially the V8 engine. Nice photos.

They are great lumbering things but remarkably fast. 120 MPH top speed and 0-60 in under 10 seconds.

RHD too, looks like its had a little nerf to (our) offside front wing/headlight. I remember being tempted by a V8 Major and a normal Majestic, they were old rotters though so perhaps its a good thing they disappeared before I did something I'd regret later!

thanks for posting the pics! even the whitewalls seem to suit it

I suspect we think the whitewalls suit it because of the association with the Docker's monstrosities.

I can vouch for the top speed Peter, but I doubt the acceleration time. We had eight of these on Funeral/Wedding Hire for many years. Remember that was when most private cars struggled to exceed 70mph!
Only a brave man hustled one of these cars. The brakes were attrocious. The foot brake would only return about 60% on brake tests after a meticulous overhaul. You had to press the pedal so hard you waited for it to snap off! Locking the wheels was a pipe dream. When the seperate pads on the rear discs for the handbrake were tested you held your breath! The best we ever got was about 28%. The hearse was the most relaxing to drive because it rarely got wound up to more than 30mph, though of course it had the same performance as the limmos.

By the way does anyone have a side lamp for one of these? No, not for one of these but for my 1956 Triumph Speed Twin Motorbike. It should have the same lamp under the nacelle, but it is missing.
