|
|
Hi
I have posted this, by mistake, on the paint thread with an additional query.
I wish to remove these bushes from the chassis, one side the bold is seized in, the other came out freely.
Do I need a press or extractor, another way I had thought of, well was suggested to me, was two sockets a piece of studding large washer and nuts.
One socket to fit outside of the flange that the bushes pass through, the other would be a close fit through the flange, a couple of spanners and screw/squeeze the bush out.
I have been told they need to be removed if I wish to have the chassis powder coated
Thanks

It is easier to remove the rubber centre and centre saw cut the out tube. The bolt + 2 sockets method is the usual way to fit the new ones _________________ Rover P2

As Phil says, remove the rubber first, if you have a good blow torch use that to burn it out. _________________ ROVER

Thanks again

If it is British the bush was probably made by Silentbloc. If you do use the socket and threaded bar means of extracting it you may find their part number on the outside.
I think Silentbloc are now part of Trelleburg? but a parts supplier should be able to help.

Have sourced the bushes, should be here tomorrow
Have removed the bushes, ran a drill through the rubber, pushed out the inner, couple of taps and they dropped out. then hacksawed the outer and removed them that way.
be on the phone tomorrow, take the chassis to Raydon for sandblasting and powder coating.
That'll be the one job finished.
Photos will be on my rebuild thread. |

Hi
Either drill a slot into them, and then colapse them in, before punching out, slot giving you some movement, or like already said burn them out. Lots of smoke though!
Cheers

Hi Dave
Was going to burn them out, my blowlamp went phutt! out of gas, so my mate Bob got his and Phutt out of gas,
So I drilled tham and cut them out, simple when you think about it
(after being told hehe)
Mind I put it down to the medication.
Next week is the date for the powdercoating, so will be out with the scraper again, clean up the front axle next ready to bolt on then clean up the next bit then the next bit etc. then out on the road again. |
