Yes, that's really annoying and there doesn't appear to be any way around it.
At least you can get all the radio programs.

I could not understand why lowdrag could not get the programme in france?
When we go to France we take our digibox and get all the tv and radio.
Where are you in France?
We have a gaff in the Dordogne.
I know all the right words, but not necessarily in the right order!!!!  |

You may be able to receive terrestrial or satellite transmissions but what you can't do is receive iPlayer from foreign internet service providers.

Enjoyed watching and noticed that the first bullnose used was hoodless. Second bullnose was fully weather equiped, rain must have brought on the change of car. Wusses these telly presenters  |
