What is everyones worst disaster that has happened to you?
I have few, including spilling 75 litres of hydraulic oil on the floor at work, it took more than 2 weeks to clear up.
What are other peoples experiences either in the workshop or on the road? |

Wellllll there was the Somerset's wheel coming off, or tearing a rear driveshaft apart on the 2.5 Spitfire while doing 60, or my unattended Saab 900 rolling down a carpark into the back of a new Porsche at work. I also nearly lost a rear (alloy) wheel on a standard Spitfire, and had a front suspension trunnion shear on the 2.5.
Fortunately the last problem took place at the top of mum and dad's road, so I popped around to a mate of mine, and we got the car back home by me driving verrry slowly in reverse, and my oppo holding the front end up on a trolley jack, that he wheeled along under the car. By the time I got back home the clutch was very stinky! didn't do the road surface too many favours either

I remember having a Hillman Avenger for spares. When it came to taking it to the scrap yard which was about a mile away, I decided to slightly loosen the road wheel nuts
Now when I say loosen I just mean crack em, thinking this would save me problems that end. I towed the car down there with the wife steering the scrapper Whilst travelling down the main street of the village the inevitable happened, one of the back wheels parted company, the wife was waving her arms about franticly and sparks were shooting everywhere
I certainly didn't live that one down for the rest of my life |

| There are lots of disasters that originate from a wheel falling off. I was just speaking to a mate theat had his wheel come off on his mini van, it was held on by the brake caliper that got quite hot aparently, and he drove it home like that!! |

Do crashes count as disasters only if they include a hospital visit?
How about a bus losing an oil filter on the M5 and then spraying its engine oil over the exhaust,(twice!) or the same bus losing its rear axle on a motorway?
And then someone asked me a while ago why I dont trust garages! |

I guess I know what that means!!!!!
Funny thing is, these 28 year old incidents have a follow up that happened at the beginning of this year! |

Don't know if this one counts but I was in a rush making a last minute bid on ebay for a lubrication chart. I ment to enter £4.00 and actually entered £400, and believe it or not I won it. They were some very slow seconds, watching the price go up! Thank god I made a last minute bid and it only had time to reach £5.50!!
Nearly had a heart attack
Cheers

my brother nearly landed himself in it a while back, he thought he'd put a tiny bid on an XK Jag, knowing it wouldnt be enough to meet the reserve (so why he bothered I dunno!!) but just for the hell of it - anyway, he must have been half asleep as he clicked Buy It Now instead! fortunately the vendor was understanding (most wouldn't have been) and he got out of it ok, but for a while I think he was worried, hehe
