The Austin 10/4 is taxed and fettled... well almost. Did an oil change yesterday in preparation for our first Sunday run this year. The memsahib was eager to take the wheel after not having driven it for some time. Quarter mile from home there was that familiar lurch as we negotiated a pimple roundabout: a tyre had gone flat.
Limped home with tail between legs.
I have just had a cataract op and such things a changing wheels is forbidden. (Probably shouldn't have done the oil change either.) Have to wait for my son to help me this evening.
The Sprite is also off the road with a rusted-through exhaust system. Moss's have been promising they will be in stock in the next few days.
This has gone on for over a month now and I am giving it another week before gritting my teeth and buying a Stainless system.
The A7 Special is crouching in the back of the garage. The roads have become so bad, in and around Herne Bay that its hard suspension makes it unusable.
Fish have been absent from the sea around Herne Bay for months now so my other pass-time is on hold, but heigh-ho summer is coming... isn't it?

Hang on in there Don Smile the sun is shining - well it is here, at this very moment .... Confused

Is the 10/4 all ship-shape once more, with all four corners uniformly proud of the terra firma?

Couple of small rusted bits of bodywork to attend to but have all the bits necessary to do the job after the Herne Bay Show tomorrow. Moss's still haven't got the exhaust and are still telling me it will be in in the next few days.
Have now developed an eye and a chest infection. I should have known better than to go anywhere near a hospital.

Don.

Well Don, I now have a prolapsed disc around C5 so getting under a car is almost impossible. Perhaps we should start a website called oldclappedoutmen.co.uk . Can't lift much either. Crying or Very sad

As I write hunched over in pain all I can do is agree. Climbing into the letterbox of a spare wheel area to access the two fuel pumps has not done me much good either! Strange problem though; driving happily and then - fuel starvation. Pull off the road, turn the ignition on and one pump clicks, but only twice. The other is dead. Take the cap off the pump and touch the pump with one finger and it fires up as normal, but you've got to keep your finger on the pump! Then without warning, both spring into life. Drive for 40 miles and no problem, then - bang - it happens again. I was in the car to put a multimeter on it to see if there was a voltage drop but no. I guess it's one of those mystery things, but it'll have to be found since if I break down on the track I won't be popular.

Guess what! after over two months of Moss telling me (over the telephone) they were waiting for delivery of my Sprite exhaust. I log on to their website to find they are shown as in stock. I have placed an order and await their arrival, wondering if it is all a cruel hoax.
When, and if, it does arrive: I am then faced with spending some time beneath the car fitting it... I think I shall call in some favours from my son.
