|
|
Hi all
When I acquired my Morris 8 series E a few years ago, I noticed that the engine capacity was incorrectly listed on the V5C as 885cc rather than the correct 918cc. It was a simple matter to amend the form send it off to the DVLA and it came back corrected.
I just received the V5C for my Morris 8 tourer and surprise surprise the engine capacity is again incorrectly listed as 885cc
A quick check with other Morris 8 owners reveals that some of them have 885cc rather than 918cc on the V5C's. 885cc was never an engine capacity that Morris used on the 8's, it was 918cc from 1934 till the last z van in 1952.
Is this some sort of hangover from the 70's when the computerisation came in? why did the DVLA pick 885cc was it a mistake? did they just pick a cc that would be about right for an 8?
Did it affect other vehicles?....its not a big problem to get it changed, I'm just curious

The first V5 I got for the DLM, forget how long ago.
The car was still in boxes.
Anyway according to DVLA it was a two wheel tractor.
Didn't know there were any two wheeled tractors.
I think they make it up as they go along sometimes. |

Only the Azani Iron Horse comes to mind,Roger, which was really a walk behind but one of my neighbours had one to which he had fitted a trailer with a seat on the drawbar so he could ride to the shop, cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

The DVLA are a bunch of muppets since when have you ever known a government department to be run for the benefit of the people they serve,i would like to know what happens to all the money they make from selling off the registration numbers. |
