I've never seen one like that before.
It would be great to kit it out for one person with a fitted cooker, oven, toilet, sink and a fridge. _________________

Howzabout Red, White, Black, and Gold if you want to stand out in a crowd?
One of these three
RAL 3003 - Ruby red
RAL 3004 - Purple red
RAL 3005 - Wine red
With gold lining, if you want something classy?
If you fancy a green,
RAL 6009 - Fir green
RAL etc is the international code for the colour.
The red, white, black, and gold is the most striking multi-colour.
Unfortunately, evil adolph dragged it through the mud a bit.
The dark red, and the darkish green are traditional colours for carriages for nobs.
Then there's Toad's ultimate in bad taste.
Kind Regards, WLC |

the original color, is county cream what's wrong with that ?
when i saw this van for sale ,12 years ago it was dark blue and the roof was covered in felt ,, , i hope you are going to restore her back to original its a unique little van, the only other car trailers survivor i know of is the camping trailer this is like a tent in a trailer, nothing like a caravan ,
just a friendly word of advice if you intended to tow with your fire truck you may need to make a sprung mount for the tow ball , the suspension on lorries and trucks is allot stiffer then the caravan,s this can shake a lightweight van's apart , it really depends on how stiff the suspension is on the back of your waggon OVM |

Why do you think that what you've got wasn't original Pete?
Your 'van is pretty innovative.
Why should your hitch be bog standard?
Quite a lot of hitches in that period were just flat bits of metal with a hole near the end.
The female on the motor may or may not have been hinged vertically.
I suspect that the idea was that that the metal tongue on the trailer flexed.
Howzabout making a hitch that will work with what you've got?

If you ask my girlfriend she i think would say yes.As she would like to do the inside in 1960s.And there is noway that is going to happen.Because i love it then sorry no.I have took the wheels this morning to get sand blastered ready to be painted black.I have also took the bracket at the front that holds the support leg to see if i can get one made. The wheels only have three studs bolted to the axle but there are 6 studs on the wheel. So they must fit a 1930s car.I am going to buy new crossply tyres so its original but someone gave me a good idea to put it on a small trailer to take to shows then i can drive a little faster. |

Well, if you aren't prepared to sell it to me for what you paid for it now reality has kicked in Pete, then you got it at a very good price.
You mentioned getting your wheels blasted.
Can I suggest you get the spokes and rims checked before you have them sand blasted.
Incidentally, sand blasting has sent many a sound wheel to an early grave.
There are much better ways of blasting that using sand.
At a guess, ground walnut shells will do a much better job, and most importantly, unlike sand, they won't remove any metal.
Kind Regards, WLC |
