Last week I bought a cheap runaround from one of the garages I visit with my work. It is a 1992 Toyota Corolla Automatic. It is in very good condition and had been off the road since the previous owner died. It is one family owned from new and the family was the famous Scottish singers Fran and Anna. Older forum members will remember them.....Didnt like them much myself but the car is a piece of Scottish showbiz history.......Wonder if there is a fanclub.

I once had a Hillman Husky, it'd been bought new by a Lt.Gen.Sir RA Savory (DSO). He was the last British Adjutant General in India, from 1946 to 1947
before independence, and then went on to be Colonel of the Sikh Light Infantry. Previously he had served (WW1) in Egypt and Persia, then in WW2 in the Western Desert and Burma.

Perhaps not famous as such, but it was interesting digging into the first name to appear on the old-style logbook.

A former colleague at the bank I once worked at owned a red MX5, it formerly belonged to Mick Hucknall (a popular singer of the 1980s I'm told Wink)

I know who owns Twiggy's E-type - in Stowe, Vermont. It's a summer-time daily driver.

I bought Ivan Dutton's (now of Bugatti fame) group 1 1275 Cooper 'S' back in '72 or thereabouts. It's still around somewhere although with a Clubman front end after a collision with a potato lorry in Crewe (my fault) & apparently a 998cc engine (not my fault) - according to the DVLA. Now WAM 10K, not the original D registration.

I knew someone who once owned Linda Bellingham's black VW 1303 - not at the same time she owned it of course...

My old XJ6 was previously the daily driver for Lord Alan Sainsbury and my Checker cab was passed on to Stuart Cable (Stereophonics) before I bought it back.

My father once had an old M20 combination that belonged to the brother of a famous murderer of the 50s. It's hardly worth mentioning except that in a film made about the murder this guy is depicted driving.... you guessed it.

I sent off the V888 form for my Austin Cambridge yesterday, it'll be interesting if it throws up any famous previous owners (it probably won't, as it's spent its whole life in Southend and I can't think of any famous people from Southend apart from Helen Mirren and Dominic Littlewood).

I'd like to find the original owner of my Range Rover, as it has H R Owen badge on the back as supplier, and I know of another identical car with very close reg number, suggesting that there may have been a small fleet of them. How do I go about it, please?

Fill in form V888 and send it off to the DVLA with a £5 cheque and they should, in theory, send you back details of previous owners. I'm still waiting Sad
