Hello
I have a ford model Y, i'd like to know if anyone knows if it's possible to remove the gearbox without removing the engine.
Thanks |

I presume the model Y has a transverse rear spring and torque tube as in later upright Anglias and Pop's.
My recall is a bit sketchy, but on those I believe the solution was to release the torque tube from the back of the gearbox. Then it was possible to push the axle back sufficiently on the transverse spring to lower the torque tube so the gearbox could then be removed conventionally.
I know we used to remove the gearbox with the engine in situ and I am pretty sure we did not remove the rear axle.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but the last one was over 50 years ago! And then some!
