Although I am an member of H.C.C. and I have an list of fellow members I am curious to know just how many of the 1920's style of caravans still exist in an usable state. I mean Eccles, Angela and any other make in the style of the square box with lantern roof and bay window type. Please put me out of my misery, how many are left that are known. Thanks.

G'day Bayliss Thomas Wink

I too have recently become a member of the HCC and would be interested in hearing the answer to your question.

Sometimes I get the impression that there are heaps of 1920's Eccles, Angela, Voyageur, Car Cruiser and the like roaming around England but......... when I look closely I think I might be seeing the same Angela and Eccles popping up at all the shows, and if I owned one of them I'd be so proud that I would be showing it off at every opportunity too Rolling Eyes

I also get the impression that not all the owners of these truly vintage caravans are members of the HCC, the Period & Classic Caravan Club appear to have there fair share of Angela's too.. or are they the same Angela I see at HCC rallies Question

Cobber.

Hi there guys, seeing as your interested in 20's vans......

As soon as my last rally is over in October I will be starting the complete restoration of a early twenties box caravan made by Arthur Gardener (Cheltenham Caravans).
She is 16ft long with bowed sides, full lantern roof, leaded windows with bay over the tow bar, rear door and running on 20" disc wheels... Apparentely he only built 4 of these vans between 1921 and 1927 so it definatley needs saving..

she also boasts a fully fixed double bed across the front..

i will be posting pictures as soon as the resto begins

just thought i'd wet your appetite.. Laughing Laughing Laughing

look froward to the pictures, as at this years 60th Cecil Gardener (Arthur's son) gave a talk about the cheltenhams and how it all started so to able to see another early one would be great, this one was the oldest one there

G'day Y V M,

That 1920's cheltenham would have to be worth saving, could
be the only one remaining aye?

Thanks for the photo of the '34 Cheltenham Gillbery.
Where did that step store when it was not in use ?

When it comes to 1920's Angela caravans I think I
have identified four different ones still doing the
shows..... does anybody know of more ?

Thanks O V M & Gillbery,

They could save a bit of space in that Angela Gillberry if they sent me one of those Caracan..... I need one Rolling Eyes

It would appear that there are more 1920's Angela's than 1920's Eccles....... would that be right ?
I have only noticed three or four Eccles ........ many more from the 1930's but we'll count them later Wink
