I tried a Moto Guzzi trike and the streering was rediculosly heavy and it vibrated like a pig. Try BEFORE you buy. _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

Stay with 2 or 4 wheels Buzzy - 3 have the disadvantages of both if you see what I mean!
I have a couple of Moto Guzzis (850T4 and Breva 1100) and in the form the factory intended they are great fun. _________________ Jonathan Butler

Buzzy
None really they just don't appeal. Tried a combination once and that needs some special skills
I was referring to the old comments "None of the advantages of a bike or of a car" so no weather protection like a car but you cannot get through where a bike can or I suppose you could say it has the worst of both worlds.
There are some very nice ones about (a chap in Newport makes them from old Goldwings) and some absolute horrors which look like a farm gate laid down and powered.
Having said they don't appeal I would not mind a decent one but really prefer the flexibility of 2 wheels.
Good ones are not cheap from what I see. _________________ Jonathan Butler

Build one,
I know of a few that have, and some of them are nice. some as Salopian says, bloody horrors.
I know of one home built in Welling, five wheel trike.
He has been offered £25,000 for it but wont sell, only one in Europe.
It sound great as well, short video on my photobucket if you look.

Morgan will be building the sports trike again next year with a Harley Davidson engine - but it will cost! _________________ Keep Torqueing,

Saw one at a local show last summer. The lady owner's hubby had a real Morgan alongside. It looked the part though.

Are you sure it isn't a five wheel bike - or even a five wheel monocycle?

hi dave
there are lots of trike types you need to do your reserch to narrow down the type you need.
then its new, or second hand / pro or home built. you can find trike builders on the net they will build one for you (find your own doner bike) or some will sell you a kit and you diy it (can save u a lot). trike are around look, on ebay£500 to £30,000 but you need to know your way around motorbikes and be aware of the laws and constuction and use regulations.
most of all trikes are fun, a lot of people with disabilities use them instead of bikes there great for towing and carrying that extra equipment you always think you will need so don't be put of look learn and buy one

| Most of the ones I see are utterly horrible, Reliant Robins with the bodywork hacked away and a V8/V6/crossflow/pinto shoehorned in, covered with skull 'n' crossbones stickers. I'd imagine a nice one could be quite nice, but I'm afraid I'm yet to see one I'm really impressed with. |

Richard H I agree if you want a Trike try a Raleigh or BSA much cheaper than a Morgan and both with good car club back up.
I own a BSA Trike and can confirm that you will get all the excitement you need with one.
They came with a V twin engine of 1021 cc or a sidevalve four cylinder engine of 1075 cc. They can be reliable for their age and are lots of fun.
Google for the BSA FWD club. Yes they were front wheel drive.
Regards Kels. |
