Everything is so much easier now for drivers...I suppose its called progress..Electric windows..air conditioning..electric sunroofs...power steering..OK modern cars are much safer..are they with their plastic bumpers as opposed to the big chrome bumpers that you could knock down a wall with. Now its airbags all round.......But there is no fun to driving now. Years ago you had a wee red warning light and a wee orange one and if one of them came on you knew something was wrong..now when you turn on your ignition theres lights all roads. Its all geared now to being environmental friendly but its not really. With older cars you can recycle metal but now how do you recycle all the plastic .
Imagine our classic car being built new today..would they sell ? A nice new A series bmc engine in a nice new marina would probably be as environmental friendly if not more than the modern cars with no character.Would you like your classic brand new....mind you it wouldnt be a classic then but if your classic was produced again would you buy one.
I would as I bought one new in the seventies. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Everything you mention is just something else to go wrong!
I can manage without most of them, keeping my life simple (and cheaper).

The modern car I bought last time, that I use now, has the simplist spec I could find, no air con, no electric windows, central locking was going a bit far to be honest! All as they just cost money in the long run, when they go wrong!
Lets all go agricultural, then we will all have vehicles that will last for ever! hehe
Cheers

Can't be simpler than The DLM, Ignition, lights, and an audible warning device to stay legal.
Simpler than most motor bikes.
The only modern part is the cycle computer as a speedometer.
Quicker, and easier, to pop down to the shops in than the modern, cheaper shopping as well, no room for anything |
