Hotchkiss.

Alan emailed over this photograph of a vintage motor-car that belonged to his Grandfather. Fellow VSCC-ers identified this handsome machine as a French Hotchkiss, an automobile produced by the Hotchkiss et Cie concern in France. The car's registration (CF 661) points to the Hotchkiss spending its early years in the UK driving the lanes of West Suffolk. The radiator, which features a pair of crossed canons to its badge, was enough to identify the car as a Hotchkiss. The firm produced its first car in 1903, but spent the years previous to that producing arms for the military, hence this choice of badge to use on their cars.

Vintage Hotchkiss car
From 1923 to 1929, Hotchkiss produced one model - the AM. The car above though, despite being registered here in the mid-1920s, is significantly earlier, and could well be a 20/30hp model.
